In the late 80’s Peter spent a highly enjoyable five years working across Spain in the tourism industry. With school having come up low on his priorities first time round this was a full on ‘University of Life’ education. Follow this with 25 years being directly connected to the licensed hospitality trade in every position from barman to GM and you get a comprehensive and valued level of first hand experience. This has been translated into effective training delivery for the past 15 years, firstly with Marston’s PLC and, since 2003, as a self employed Training Professional. Having run his own business(es) for a dozen or more years, Peter is completely familiar with the trials and tribulations of running a company and, at the same time, dealing with the widest possible range of customers. This allows a great amount of empathy towards how the business world works. An ability to translate even the most complex legislative material into understandable English – not just understandable but implementable too. Simple solutions to due diligence. Measureable success in sales techniques, financial management and product quality assurance. The ability to engage and deliver enjoyable but highly effective training is testified to by the comments and recommendations listed on his website.
Awards have been part of the development of this approach to quality training. Part of a National Training Award (NTA) winning team in 2000, Peter had his appetite whetted for the success that is proven by entering and collecting top awards. Highly Commended at his first attempt to gain a BIIAB National Industry Training Award (NITA) in 2004, Peter continued towards the top of this field by further improving through the learning offered by entering schemes like the NITA. He collected the highly prestigious NITA Trainer of the Year in 2006. Further mentions in despatches for security training done in 2005, Social Responsibility in 2008 and a second Highly Commended Professional Trainer of the Year in 2008/9 has further cemented his place in the industry. Contributions from Peter also formed part of other large company award winning entries over the past few years.
Working closely over the years with top educational providers, Peter has been involved personally in the pilot development of qualifications such as the Award for Personal Licence Holders, something sought by thousands of people a year together with other qualifications such as the Award for Assessment of Licensed Premises. For those wishing to run schemes such as Best Bar None this is the primary qualification for co-ordinators and assessors. Over the years Peter has also trained literally hundreds of Licensing Practitioners in Local Authority and other Responsible Authority roles to qualification level with the BIIAB Award for Licensing Practitioners (both Alcohol & Gambling) being his preferred vehicle of teaching.
So if you want the individual help and support that Peter can offer your business – small or large – in areas that include recruitment, development and training of your workforce, understanding and managing your Business Plan, getting to grips with setting and measuring budgets and P&L forecasts, setting prices and maintaining profit levels, recipe costings, stock control, product quality and exceptional service skills, look no further.
